Jean Gonsoulin

Jean Gonsoulin is president of The Gonsoulin Group, a public relations consultancy with operations in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and a seasoned communications strategist. With nearly thirty years in public relations, corporate communications and marketing split between the agency arena and the corporate sector, Jean brings a unique perspective to client service and a deep understanding of reputational challenges and opportunities. Her experience crosses a wide range of industries and her expertise is drawn from counseling executives and other senior-level professionals at some of the most well-known public and private organizations in the country and around the world. Among the practice areas in which she excels are strategic planning, message development and brand positioning, crisis and reputation management, media and stakeholder communications, and executive visibility.

Clients of The Gonsoulin Group seek out her services because of her ability to take what they bring to the table and how they want to position themselves with stakeholders, and translate that into a cohesive, compelling communications blueprint with all the messaging and tools necessary to execute.

She has worked with well-known and highly regarded corporate clients across a broad range of industry sectors, from healthcare and financial services, to energy and real estate, to technology and more. She also has deep experience in working with academic institutions, primarily in higher education, and with non-profit organizations representing a variety of causes. Jean is a recognized expert in crisis and issues management, risk preparedness and litigation PR, and her experience has spanned the breadth of the crisis spectrum. From high profile litigation and corporate matters, to internally-focused and highly sensitive situations, she brings smart, strategic thinking and an ability to navigate multiple, and often-conflicting, agendas to achieve the best possible outcome for the client.

A native of Texas, Jean currently splits her time between Los Angeles and San Francisco. She was formerly an executive vice president at GolinHarris, where she managed the San Francisco office and led the West Coast Corporate Practice, as well as one of the agency’s largest clients. She joined Clear Channel Entertainment from her previous position as Vice President and Managing Director of the Houston office of Weber Shandwick where she led the corporate practice and business development for the agency.

She has served on the boards of directors for both the Houston and Los Angeles chapters of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), where she held several committee chairmanships, and the Texas Public Relations Association, where she chaired the annual awards program for five years.
